LATIHAN RIVER RANGER DI MBPJ

Pada 23hb Januari 2010, GEC telah mengadakan latihan River Ranger bagi peringkat Zon 2 bertempat di MBPJ. Seramai 9 orang peserta telah berjaya menamatkan latihan tersebut dengan jayanya.

OBJEKTIF PROGRAM RIVER RANGER

• Pengurusan sumber air yang komprehensif


• Mendidik semua pihak masyarakat terutama golongan muda tentang cara-cara untuk menilai sungai & kawasan sekitarnya


• Individu atau berkumpulan menjadi mata dan telinga (eyes&ears) sungai


• Melakukan 'Health Assessment of Streamer/River'

The RIVER Ranger is designed as an educational awareness and action programme. The programme emphasizes on every aspect of freshwater ecosytems, including its biodiversity, values and benefit to mankind.

The programme aims to expand the knowledge and awareness of participants in local environment management and conservation. Participants will learn to appreciate and value our water source, and the importance of sustaining it for future generations. The ultimate outcome of the RIVER Ranger Programme will see participants that have been empowered to initiate and implement river basin audits, conservation projects, and resource management in their respective communities.
